The Stop TB Partnership and the Confluence for Health Action and Transformation Foundation (India Health Fund) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. 20 July 2018: Health Ministers of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) met this morning in Durban for their 8th Annual Summit. Ministers released a communiqué that highlights the importance of the UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on TB and reaffirms their intention to continue co-operating in key areas of shared health interest, including TB, non-communicable diseases, access to medicines and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

In an unprecedented and historic move, South African Department of Health decided to recommend including bedaquiline as the standard treatment for patients with drug-resistant TB (DR-TB). The country also released data showing that treatment regimens including bedaquiline reduced mortality three-fold compared with those without bedaquiline.
