The Stop TB Partnership and the Confluence for Health Action and Transformation Foundation (India Health Fund) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. It will focus on joint advocacy and knowledge sharing to increase access to healthcare for people affected by TB in India and other high burden countries.

20 July 2018: Health Ministers of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) met this morning in Durban for their 8th Annual Summit. Ministers released a communiqué that highlights the importance of the UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on TB and reaffirms their intention to continue co-operating in key areas of shared health interest, including TB, non-communicable diseases, access to medicines and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

H.E. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa and H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, are the first Heads of State to commit to attending the UN High-Level Meeting on TB on September 26.

The first-ever Interactive Civil Society Hearing to prepare the UN High-Level Meeting on TB took place on 4 June 2018 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

In an unprecedented and historic move, South African Department of Health decided to recommend including bedaquiline as the standard treatment for patients with drug-resistant TB (DR-TB). The country also released data showing that treatment regimens including bedaquiline reduced mortality three-fold compared with those without bedaquiline.

16 July 2013 - Abuja, Nigeria - African leaders meeting here Monday and Tuesday renewed commitments to fight AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria and undertook to scale up actions aimed at eliminating the three epidemics as part of an overall goal to eliminate extreme poverty by 2030.

15 April 2013 - Geneva - The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Stop TB Partnership today honoured Dr Jorge Sampaio, the former UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Stop Tuberculosis, for his work to raise the profile of tuberculosis (TB) on the international agenda.
