President Biden signals a $6 billion US pledge for the Seventh Replenishment and offers to match $1 for every $2 contributed by other donors

GENEVA, 28 March 2022 – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria enthusiastically welcomes President Joe Biden’s request to the United States Congress for a commitment of US$2 billion for the Global Fund for fiscal year 2023, the first year of the Global Fund’s 2023-2025 funding cycle. President Biden’s fiscal year 2023 budget includes “… a $2 billion contribution for the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment, for an intended pledge of $6 billion over three years….” The White House notes that the United States will “match $1 for every $2 contributed by other donors.”

Global Fund approves emergency funding to maintain essential HIV and TB services in Ukraine

GENEVA – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has approved US$30 million to top up its Emergency Fund, including US$15 million to support the continuity of HIV and TB prevention, testing and treatment services in Ukraine. This is on top of the US$119.4 million allocated to Ukraine to support the fight against HIV and TB in the country over the 2020-2022 period, and of the US$46.6 million granted for the COVID-19 response since the pandemic broke out.
