The United Nations General Assembly adopted a text, titled “Scope, modalities, format and organization of the high-level meeting on the fight against tuberculosis”, by which it decided that the one-day high-level meeting convened by its President shall be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 22 September 2023 during the general debate of the Assembly’s seventy-eighth session and shall consist of an opening segment, a plenary segment for general discussion, two multi-stakeholder panels and a brief closing segment. 

The final text of the Political Declaration from the UN High-Level Meeting on TB is now available online in English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish.

Dr. Eric Goosby, the new UN Special Envoy on Tuberculosis, will work towards boosting the profile of the fight against TB and promoting the adoption, financing and implementation of the UN WHO’s global End TB Strategy after 2015.

4 December 2014 – Calling for inclusive, agile and coordinated action to usher in an era of sustainable development for all, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today presented the United Nations General Assembly with an advance version of his so-called “synthesis report,” which will guide negotiations for a new global agenda centred on people and the planet, and underpinned by human rights.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched on 7 July the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) report 2014, which presents the most comprehensive global assessment of progress under the eight goals to date.

24 March 2014 – On World Tuberculosis Day, the United Nations is calling for intensified global solidarity to eradicate the preventable disease, particularly by mobilizing the resources to bridge the “substantial” funding gap for TB care and control.
