The SMART4TB Consortium hosted a webinar on 20 June 2024 about the consensus process and statement for earlier inclusion of pregnant women and persons in TB research. It featured advocates sharing their experiences with TB and pregnancy, and profiling SMART4TB studies that are responding to the call for inclusion.

The SMART4TB Consortium will host a webinar on 20 June 2024 about the consensus process and statement for earlier inclusion of pregnant women and persons in TB research. Simultaneous translation will be available in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

SMART4TB invites you to take part in a 15-minute diagnostic questionnaire, 'Understanding preferences for TB point-of-care diagnostics to inform the development of new tests'. It aims to understand the opinions of TB healthcare workers, policymakers, researchers, and affected communities regarding their priorities for bringing TB diagnosis closer to point-of-care for patients.

SMART4TB wants to hear from you about the best person-centered language to describe TB treatment that takes severity and risk factors into account when coming up with a treatment plan. You are invited to complete a brief, five-minute questionnaire which can be accessed here.

A consensus statement provides a framework for ensuring that pregnant and breastfeeding women and persons are better served by TB research and can fully benefit from scientific advancements in the prevention and treatment of TB.

BALTIMORE, January 9, 2024 — Supporting, Mobilizing, and Accelerating Research for Tuberculosis Elimination (SMART4TB) is excited to announce Boditech Med, Co-Diagnostics, Nuclein and Molbio Diagnostics as partners in developing oral swab-based, point-of-care molecular TB tests. 

Community Advisory Boards representing Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia will ensure research is needs-driven and new tools are accessible.

The SMART4TB Consortium is calling for expressions of interest from multi-national community advisory boards or similarly organized civil society organizations within three geographic focus areas (Eastern Europe and Central Asia; Africa; and South and Southeast Asia) to support community engagement in research in a new five-year research project funded by USAID: Supporting, Mobilizing, and Accelerating Research for Tuberculosis Elimination (SMART4TB).
