WASHINGTON D.C., May 31, 2017 – The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved today a credit of US$15 million (PGK48 million) to support on-going efforts in Papua New Guinea (PNG) to combat the country’s growing tuberculosis epidemic.

MAPUTO, December 7, 2016 — Following the approval by the World Bank Board in May of this year of $122 million worth of financial assistance to tackle the scourge of Tuberculosis (TB) in some of Southern Africa’s high burden TB countries -- Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia -- the capital of Mozambique hosts today the regional launch for the project. The event represents a milestone in the project’s life-cycle and serves as a summit of policy makers and experts from the above countries, which have demonstrated leadership and interest in working together to explore innovative ways of confronting the Southern Africa’s TB challenge.

01 September 2014 - USAID and World Bank co-hosted a meeting on "Public-Private Mix (PPM) Models for the Sustainability of Successful TB Control Initiatives" from 27-29 May in Washington DC.

The project will contribute to the care of about 3.1 million TB patients, increase treatment for MDR-TB to 40,000 patients annually, and reach 90,000 pediatric TB cases annually
