U.S. Senators appeal to President Obama for TB plan funding

U.S. Senators send letter urging President Obama to increase funding to allow full implementation of the National Action Plan for Combating Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis.

On January 19, fourteen U.S. Senators sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to include sufficient funding for the National Action Plan for Combating Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (National Action Plan) in the President’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17).

“Implementation of the National Action Plan should be rapid and ambitious. Without an increase in funding, it will be difficult - if not impossible - to quickly execute this plan…. We urge you to include the funding necessary to fully implement this robust National Action Plan… in your FY17 budget.”

The Obama budget proposal for FY17 will be released on February 9, 2016.
