Ahead of the 1st Eastern Partnership Ministerial Conference on Tuberculosis (TB) and Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis due to be held in Riga, Latvia on March 30-31, 2015 Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) shares their experience and recommedations on how to address the deadly gaps in fighting TB.

The letter outlines MSF's involvement in TB care for the last 30 years and the main findings of their recent report Out of Step: Deadly Implementation Gaps in the TB Response. MSF proposes the development of a high-level EU Action Plan for TB and hopes that the conference results in the commitment of participants to this plan.

"The Riga conference is a critical opportunity to strengthen the response against TB and its drug-resistant forms in Europe and Eastern Europe. We sincerely hope it will be followed by development of a high-level EU Action Plan as well as mechanisms for coordinating and mobilising financial resources to ensure its successful implementation."
