International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease
June 23, 2014, 6:39 p.m.

Registration is now open for 45th World Conference on Lung Health, the world’s largest gathering of clinicians and public health workers, health programme managers, researchers and advocates working to end suffering caused by lung disease. With a record number of abstract submissions—including more focused on tobacco control than ever before—this year’s conference will feature the very best in science and advocacy on tuberculosis, TB-HIV, tobacco and other lung health issues as they impact people living in low- and middle-income countries. If you’re involved in any area of lung health, this is THE conference you don’t want to miss!

Join The Union: Union members receive a 50-euro discount on a full five-day registration, as well as many other benefits!

This year’s theme, Community-Driven Solutions for the Next Generation, reflects the need for all stakeholders to participate in creating an effective response to lung disease; and a record number of abstracts featuring civil society’s role in meeting public health goals were submitted this year. World-renowned speakers will be announced soon.

Late-breaking research: The most recent research developments on TB and TB-HIV will be announced in two exciting late-breaker sessions hosted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, in collaboration with The Union. Researchers interested in submitting late-breaker abstracts must do so by 31 July.

The 3rd President’s Centennial Dinner will be the conference’s gala event supporting The Union’s Centennial Campaign 2012-2020. This event will raise funds for public health research and education and will be held in the spectacular Sala de la Cúpula Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Parc de Montjüic on 28 October.

Register now for the conference and the President’s Dinner using the same form. The Early-bird Registration deadline is 30 July. The five-day scientific programme includes the annual Global TB Symposium organised by the World Health Organization; plenary speakers on multidrug-resistant TB, tobacco control and Community Driven Solutions: Present Perspectives and Future Vision ; 70 post-graduate courses, workshops and symposia; and close to 1,000 scientific posters presenting new findings by researchers from more than 60 countries.
