The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will soon begin research for Intensified Case Finding (ICF) for pulmonary tuberculosis in institutional healthcare settings in the country.  For this purpose, ICMR on behalf of India TB Research Consortium has solicited Letters of Interest (LoI) from interested institutes or organizations in the area of implementation research for TB for a large multi-centric project for which protocol has been developed by the ICMR.

Aiming to reduce by 90 per cent the tuberculosis incidence and mortality by the year 2035 in the country, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will soon conduct clinical trials for evaluating tuberculosis drugs and vaccines.

The Union Health Ministry accorded permission to five more drugs—chronic hepatitis C drug Sofosbuvir, prostrate cancer drug Enzalutamide, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma drug Vorinostat, pulmonary tuberculosis drug Bedaquiline tablets 100 mg and Haemophilia drug Rixubis—for importing and marketing in India without local clinical trial on Indian population.
