CPTR 4th workshop 2013 report

October 2-3, 2013
Marriott Renaissance Hotel, Washington DC

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Eighty participants attended CPTR’s annual cross-sector gathering of academic, foundation, government/regulatory, pharmaceutical and scientific communities in Washington DC to focus on supporting, advancing and expediting the development of new treatment regimens. The workshop provided a unique opportunity for participants to identify and discuss emerging issues and technologies, gain clarity and updates on regulatory processes, and increase collaboration with partners and colleagues. In addition to the main plenary sessions, workgroups made tangible progress on ongoing and planned initiatives through valuable face-to-face work sessions.

This year, CPTR’s new organizational arm on Rapid Drug Sensitivity Testing (DST) meant an expanded dialogue on this critical issue. A set of pre-workshop meetings focused specifically on key areas of focus around DST.

While the US government shutdown unfortunately prevented a number of attendees and presenters from participating, organizers and peers stepped in to ensure that dialogue continued around those important topics and critical updates.
