Cure All: A briefing on today’s most promising new TB drug research

Anthony Fauci to give “State of TB” address; New advances in TB Regimen Development to be announced

On March 19th, the Critical Path to TB Drug Regimens (CPTR) initiative will hold a briefing to discuss new momentum in the fight against tuberculosis. The event comes at a historic moment, with a wave of innovative TB research that is poised to make an impact on the disease, which kills 1.4 million people each year and is growing increasingly resistant to today’s available therapies.

Held in advance of World TB Day, the event will focus on novel treatments being tested in a new paradigm that can dramatically reduce the time it takes to get from pipeline to patient—from decades to just a few years.

This briefing will feature a high-level panel of experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, senior US policymakers, researchers, and TB Alliance leaders as they reveal some of the most promising new TB research initiatives, the state of the global health budget, and the importance of US support for the development of new tools to combat tuberculosis.
