Description

Management of MDR-TB: a field guide is a companion document to Guidelines for the programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis. It was created to help health workers in TB clinics carry out the tasks of diagnosing MDR-TB, initiating second-line anti-TB drugs, and monitoring MDR-TB treatment. It is a job aid with a strong emphasis on TB-HIV co-management that medical officers and TB nurses are meant use frequently during the day for quick reference. It introduces the recommended sequence of care for MDR-TB: 1. Triage, 2. Education and Support, 3. Assess, 4. Assess Family Status, 5. Provide MDR-TB therapy, 6. If HIV-positive, provide chronic HIV care, 7. Manage common problems, 8. Arrange follow-up and record data.
