Description
The recommendations in these guidelines address the topical questions concerning the programmatic management of drug-resistant TB: case-finding, multidrug resistance, treatment regimens, monitoring the response to treatment, and selecting models of care. They encourage the wider use of rapid drug-susceptibility testing with molecular techniques to detect rifampicin resistance in TB patients and provide appropriate treatment. Ambulatory models of care to manage patients with drug-resistant TB are recommended over others based mainly on hospitalization.
