IT'S TIME to end TB stigma and discrimination
On Zero Discrimination Day, 1 March 2019, the Stop TB Partnership highlighted the plight of millions of people who face prejudice every day because they are affected by diseases such as TB or HIV/AIDS. They are often shamed and devalued; they lose employment opportunities; they are socially shunned. This prejudicial behavior is called stigma, and it must be eradicated if the vision of a world without TB by 2030 is to be fulfilled.
Blessina Kumar, CEO of the Global Coalition of TB Activists (GCTA), Brian Citro, Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and James Malar of the Stop TB Partnership, talked about TB Stigma and their work to eradicate it.
