South Africa: Changes to ART guidelines
All HIV-positive TB patients, with immediate effect, are initiated on ART, irrespective of CD4 count.
The revised criterion for initiating HIV-positive TB patients on ART is in line with the new National Strategic Plan (NSP) for HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and TB 2012-2016 and the WHO recommendations.
